Pink Blossoms

Jennifer Michie Regent's Park Blossoms

We took a stroll through Regent’s Park today and the trees were full of blossoms. When the wind blew, the blossoms fluttered away in a swarm all around us, like delicate pink snowflakes. We were in a snowstorm of Spring.

Good Morning, Good Night!

There was a bit of light this morning when I left for work. I could see the cows lazing in the pasture on the dew laden grass as the train scooted by. The air was chilly, you could see their breath hanging above their soft heads. The fields were covered in mist, that ribboned around the trees, giving the pasture a haunted appearance. All the signs of Spring coming to England.

After rain for much of the day, the skies cleared on my journey home and soft peach and pink and lemon yellow clouds filled the sky.

As the train whirred by I snapped these photos, all in a blur and haze, which is how I mostly see the world on my train travels.

This was my Good Morning.

Hello March!

This gorgeous reddish coral colored camellia bush that I visit on my walk to school, is in full bloom. I couldn’t help but take a photo of it yesterday even though it was pouring with rain. Even in the rain it is worth stopping to see the beauty in this world.

Spring Blooms

Jennifer Michie Spring Blooms

It feels like Spring is starting to arrive to little ole England. We have had a few days this week where you can feel it coming. The light is brighter the shadows are changing, bringing a small taste of what is to come.

But colder weather is returning again this weekend, you can feel it already. The cottage was very chilly this morning. Yesterday the sun was streaming down, this morning the sky is dark and a stormy powdered steel. It has been raining steadily since very early this morning. The back and forth of the weather isn’t giving the plants a lot if chances, they all seem a bit confused.

I walk by this tree every day and it has had blooms on it all through Christmas and is still blooming now.

Its branches are dotted with miniature cotton candy pink starry shaped blooms. They are so delicate. I shot this with my IPhone and I liked the fact that I wasn’t tall enough to get the blossoms in full focus, it kept putting the branches in the background in focus, it gives it almost an ethereal appearance.

I love this tree! It’s these little things along the way that make you smile, drops of beauty scattered throughout your day, if you look for them.

The First Day Back

Jennifer Michie February 24

The first 4:45 wake-up in over a week! I don’t know what was worse, the fact that the alarm was going off or that I was lying there waiting for it to happen, watching the minutes slowly tick away.

It was cool here this morning and something happened in my week off, the sky has started to brighten earlier than before. One week ago it was still dark on my journey in, this morning the sky was ribboned with pale blues, blush pinks, violet purples, mangos and gold. Spring is coming!

It was a long day back, the first day always is. I stayed late, got caught in rush hour tube traffic. I was pushed, smushed and stomped on. I’m telling ya mean people are MEAN! I then had to walk home in the rain and got absolutely soaked through! Well it can only getter better from here, right? RIGHT!

P.S. This was my calendar page this morning, it made me smile! I hope it makes you smile too!

6 More Weeks of Winter

Groundhog Day 1961

Well, today in the second day of the second month of the year, Phil saw his shadow this morning. Which means that 6 more weeks of winter are ahead. If only he could tell me if that counts for England as well. Because I could use a bit more winter that includes some snow in my future, I’m tired of all this rain!

Spring

Shhh, I think Spring is coming. Don’t tell anyone, or it might not happen!

Update: You know, I wrote this post last night, before my heart skipped a beat as Mr. Michie told me someone had Tweeted about what was happening in Boston. I quickly searched the news for information, while Mr. Michie turned on the TV.

Next, I skyped my Mom to make sure that my family in Boston was alright. Thank goodness they were!

I am so saddened by this tragedy of events. What a terrible act to commit against innocent people.

Boston our thoughts and prayers are with you!

Easter Treats

Still enjoying the leftovers of Easter.

We got a scrumptious nest cake from Our Daily Bread Bakery for dessert, the  Easter tree for a baby girl’s first Easter and glorious truffles that my sister was kind enough to share some with me, they were heavenly!
