We headed back home last week, but this time through Walnut Creek, Ohio. It was beautiful! We stayed in the heart of Amish Country, drove through fields with hay stacked almost as if it had come out of a Monet painting and feasted on cream sticks and cinnamon twists and grape and cherry hand pies. We have spent the past few days in a glorious blissful existence. We sat on the back deck while Milly joined us to sunbathe her golden fur, watched the baby wiggling her adorable twinkle toes and spending our evenings working on First Birthday Party plans. Oh what fun!
Last night there were four generations of daughters in my sister’s house. What could be more special than that?
As we sat around the kitchen table talking, we saw a mama deer and her fawn come out for a bite of dinner. We just watched them. My Nana loves nature, she has an artist’s eye and for us to see that while we were all together was just magic!
Well, I’m on a mini road trip down to Virginia to see my sister, her husband, their adorable dogs and of course my GORGEOUS neice!
We headed out from Indiana and made our way through Ohio Amish Country. We drove through Norwalk, snapped a pick of a cute Post Office in Savannah and visited the world’s largest cuckoo clock in Sugarcreek, Ohio.
My Mom and I are having a blast on this mother-daughter road trip. I can’t think of anything better!
Last night, Jennifer decided to take us to Cracker Barrel to eat. She loves going there, as they have some of the best sweet tea this side of the Mason Dixon.
I find, that some nights just call for breakfast for dinner. This was one of those nights. Gigi got a plate of ham biscuits with the sugar cured ham, of course, as that is her favorite. While I had the buttermilk pancakes with fried apples and a drizzle of maple syrup to tie it all together.
The cinnamon in the apples made my tongue tingle, while the syrup got into my whiskers and made them stick out hard and straight. As I licked them off with my pink tongue, they tasted like little sticks of maple candy. Gigi helped me finish cleaning them off when we were done with dinner. I left with a full and happy furry belly. I slept the rest of the way home while the ladies chatted away in the front seat. Happiness is…
{A mini note from Jennifer: Today, ushers in the first day of August and so I will be taking my annual August Break, which coincides perfectly with a little road trip I am about to take. So, I will be posting pictures here and there and just enjoying life on the road.}

One of my summer W.I.Ps. is a ruffle scarf made with “Loops & Threads”, Spring Fling. It took me a few minutes to work it all out, how to knit with a “ribbon”, but it is turning out really cute!

A beautiful little arrangement my mom put together for my sister. Pretty carnations and fresh mint from my sister’s garden. It smelled wonderful!
I went for a stroll today with Goose Girl and she found a mushroom forest to walk in. She loved the smell of the damp earth around her feet as she tip-toed through the forest and decided to cut a mushroom down and bring it back for her dinner with foxy.
She said she was going to make a sauteed onion, pepper and mushroom hoagie, smothered in cheese for dinner, because that is one of Foxy’s favourites, even if the cheese does stick to his whiskers!
