Sunday

I’m afraid I have no images to share with you today, just words. I spent yesterday wandering around London and doing a little Christmas shopping. It is early to do that I know, but some things I have to get done dearly, so they can be mailed out in plenty of time to arrive at their destinations amongst all the other flurry of Christmas post the mailmen and mail-ladies are busily sorting, stacking, bundling and delivering.

I didn’t do my Christmas window walk yet, but I have heard tell that Harrod’s theme this year is Fairytales, so I can’t wait to see that.

I walked along Marylebone High Street, it is one of my favorite places to shop! I picked up a few things at Emma Bridgewater and Cath Kidston, popped into Daunt Books and the wonderful Oxfam Book Store. I stopped into Rococo to pick up a little chocolate for a friend and was very kindly given one of my favorites, a chili chocolate truffle by the lovely girl helping me!

As I walked out the brisk air, quickly took the scent of chocolate out of my nostrils, but it came back again the moment, I popped that chili truffle into my mouth, mmmm, heaven sent! I was greedy, I popped the whole thing in at once!

I didn’t make it to Liberty’s, so that is a trip for next time. I wanted to look at some fabric and to go to their Christmas floor, which is always a delight. I did make it to Anthropologie, always a store of happiness, their window was adorably, filled with owls.

I saw the most beautiful sunset yesterday. It was unreal. I wanted to snap a picture for you, but I didn’t bring my camera yesterday and my phone refused to cooperate with me, but I can tell you, if any of you who read me were walking around in London yesterday afternoon and happened to look up, you will know what I am talking about. The buildings were almost black, the sky was violet, pumpkin orange, watermelon pink, daisy yellow, it took my breath away.

Today, we are relaxing, as the next two weeks of school are going to be extremely hectic. I am going to make that butternut squash chili again, Mr. Michie will be working on creating his out of this world guacamole and grading papers in between.

I hope you are well and happy wherever you may be today.

I’m Still Here!

HELLOOOO!

I’m still here, I promise! I have just been very, very, very busy the past few days. I have visited with family.

I have gone out and about in London with a theatre buddy to see this:

and this:

Wasn’t so sure about Ghost, I will admit, but I walked away from it and would have turned right back around and sat through it all again, it was wonderful! The set design, the innovation, the special effects!

I have been on a date with Mr. Michie to one of our favorite little restaurants, where they had a great little jazz band playing. Their first song was, “Take the A Train”, from that point on, we knew it was going to be a good night!

I have also been dying to make these since I read Bakerella’s post:

But, alas, the weather in England has turned wintery again, it is raining and cold and then raining and muggy, not very nice!

"Call Me Maybe"

This song just makes me happy! You know what makes me even happier? I have some family in town today and I get to spend the whole day with them, wandering out and about in London!! What could be better?

Have a wonderful, wonderful weekend!

Jubilation

Today marks the end of the Jubilee celebration. We went in to central London on Saturday to do a little sight-seeing and catch the Damien Hirst exhibition at the Tate Modern. It started out rainy, but turned into a deliciously sunny day before the rain came back in the evening.

The Flying Scotsman came along with us, though we didn’t get to take as many pictures of him as he wanted, because my gorgeous union jack shoes from one of my very favorite shoe stores, busted open a healing blister on my heel, that is now the size of Texas.

So, that led to a lot of limping, almost some tears and a trip to TopShop for a pair of flip-flops courtesy of Mr. Michie.

After that we headed to The Diner for dinner and a beer and spent a good bit of the evening in there, eating, drinking, dancing and chatting. The 80’s tunes were just pumping Saturday night, so that made for a wonderful atmosphere.

We did manage to take a few pictures of the day and here they are:

my wonderful union jack shoes

a new ring from Mr. Michie for our anniversary, isn’t it just FUN!

the flying scotsman in my local Cath Kidston, they just redecorated and it was really cute

the window at Emma Bridgewater, so festive!

one of the butterfly “stained glass” images at the Damien Hirst show

the flying scotsman near the bridge on the south bank (he’s a little fuzzy, he was so excited, he just wouldn’t stand still)

a sparkly union jack on carnaby street

the flying scotsman catching the bus home

The Sunshine Boys

Last night, I saw this:

and it was wonderful! To see Danny DeVito in person was everything I hoped it would be and more!

I was cheeky at the end and grabbed a couple of shots on my phone, just to show Mr. Michie, the set, as I had gone out with a friend.

Isn’t he just as cute as can be? (not the sharpest pictures, I know!)

What a wonderful way to celebrate the 1st of May!
