Happy Valentine’s Day!

💗 Happy Valentine’s Day! 💗

Although today specifically celebrates love, there are 364 (365 this year with the Leap Year) days in which to celebrate L-O-V-E in all its many shapes and forms.

May today find you surrounded by love. Whether you are celebrating loving yourself, loving another, or being loved.  đź’‹

HELLO, February

Hello, February. I don’t know how you got here so quickly?

January had moments that felt like a whirlwind, as storms battered our island home. Yet at the same time, there were moments of stillness, punctuated by the glow of beautiful crisp morning sunrises. And we’re going to continue to welcome the changing light while savouring evenings still-made cozy by candlelight and cups of tea with honey and lemon.

We’re ready for birthdays, the Lunar New Year, Valentine’s Day and the extra day you will gift us with this month on the 29th. We’re ready for the confetti shower of red, white and pink that you will sprinkle over us in this season of L-O-V-E!

We’re ready to spend those cold sunny mornings sitting on the beach, drinking coffee and watching the waves roll in. We’re ready to don our walking boots over the winter school break and head out on our adventures.

We’re still holding out for the promise of snow and a day wrapped up under blankets, sipping hot chocolate while we watch the flakes gently fall. We’re still manifesting all the hygge. Candlelight, good music and french toast casserole drizzled with maple syrup for dinner are all still on the cards, even if spring is starting to knock on the door.

Welcome, February, we’re ready for you.

Happy Valentine’s Day

💗 Happy Valentine’s Day! 💗

To me, Valentine’s Day is a celebration of L-O-V-E in all its many shapes and forms, and although it’s highlighted on this day, there are 364 other days in the year when it should be celebrated too.

May your day be filled with love in all its many shapes and forms.

HELLO, February

Hello, February. We’re ready for the birthdays you bring this month and a day solely dedicated to the celebration of L-O-V-E in all its many shapes and forms.

We’re ready to keep moving into this new year at a slow and steady rhythm; cherishing the peaceful calm of winter. No, we’re not done with Lady Winter yet and we hope that the she will blow us a snowy kiss from her frosted lips before spring dawns to pull us out of our cozy winter-hibernation.

We’re ready to feast on breakfast for dinner on wintry nights, with maple syrup running over tall stacks of pancakes, accompanied by crispy bacon and coffee. We’re ready to nestle, in the comfort of hot chocolate and popcorn, while watching much-loved old movies. And, we’re happy to continue warming ourselves with homemade soups and hearty stews.

We’re ready to spend the evening wrapped up in a good book. We’re ready to drink wine and indulge in deep conversations that somehow manifest on winter evenings and last until the wee small hours of the morning when you suddenly realise the time, and have to scurry to bed before the alarm goes off. We’re ready to listen to music by candlelight and dance in the kitchen while we’re cooking dinner together.

And we will be ready for the changes in light, both morning and night, as the days lengthen and spring signals its inevitable arrival. Albeit, far too soon for our liking.

HELLO, February

Hello, February. I’m not sure how you arrived so quickly? January has kept us busy beyond measure, so I somehow wasn’t expecting you quite yet, but we’re happy that you are here! And on this first day of your reign, you have ushered in with you the Lunar New Year. The Year of the Tiger. May it be a year that brings good fortune and luck to us all.

We’re keeping our fingers crossed that you continue to bring chilly days and maybe, just maybe a snowy day. We’re ready for hot chocolates with marshmallows and whipped cream on slow Saturday afternoons while we watch old movies. We’re ready for more chances to catch our breath while lingering at the table when dinner is over listening to music.

We’re ready for the celebration of L-O-V-E that you herald in this month and all the red, white and pink that colours our world with a rosy hue. We’re ready for pancakes for dinner on frosty nights and copious amounts of tea and the chance to be still and read. We’re ready to continue relishing in the season of winter when all is quiet at night and we can hear the foxes crying out under the stars.

We’re ready for all that you have to offer. Welcome!

Happy Valentine’s Day!

I hope wherever you are today that you are surrounded by LOVE in all its many shapes and forms. đź’–

HELLO, February!

Hello, February! This month you usher in a birthday for one of my most cherished loved ones. You bring us Valentine’s Day and all the red, pink and white love and fun that goes with giving sweet surprises to family and friends. I’m ready for heart shaped desserts and more dinners by candlelight and steaming cups of hot chocolate with a stack of pancakes.

I’m ready for more music and dancing around the kitchen while we make dinner. I’m ready for a week off from school for winter break. I’m ready to still relish in winter, itself! I’m not wishing it away yet. I like these quieter moments. It’s a time to reflect, to be still, to recover from the hectic start to the year and to prepare for more of the year ahead.

So, February, we are ready for you and all that you hold and it would be even better if you could kiss us with snow! At least once! đź’™
