Well, my candles are lit, A Christmas Romance is playing on TV, so naturally I’m watching it. Nothing like a little Olivia Newton-John and Gregory Harrison to get your morning going. I have a steaming cup of tea in front of me and brownies are baking in the oven.
I’m slowly defrosting from my walk this morning. It was so cold! But, my heart was warm from all the furry kisses I received. I saw a lot of my four legged friends as I made my way along this morning. I also had a nice chat with a robin, who I see from time to time. I whistle and he sings back. After a nice little chit-chat he usually follows me for a while down my path.
I still need to do a bit of prep work for dinner tonight and a bit of tidying up so we are set for the weekend. I’m going to work on wrapping up some packages this afternoon, with Christmas music blasting of course!
This weekend brings with it a chance for us to catch our breath and get a few things done around the house, while also finalising our Thanksgiving menu. I can’t wait for pumpkin pie! Really pumpkin pie and my leftover turkey sandwich is the highlight of my Thanksgiving.
I hope you have a wonderful and peaceful weekend, wherever you may be. xx
I’m getting ready for the weekend. It should be busy, there are lots of errands to run, a menu to plan and a trip to the grocery store. I have a few new recipes that I want to test out as well. Mr. Michie treated me to Ina Garten’s new cookbook, Cooking for Jeffrey, which should arrive today and I’m very excited. I don’t know if I have shared this here before, but I have a bit of a cookbook fetish. I don’t cook from all of them, some I use for inspiration alone. But I just love cookbooks. Especially vintage ones! I scored two great Christmas ones last year that are just the sweetest things ever.
I hope you have a wonderful weekend, wherever you may be! Here’s to the weekend, long may it last!
We made it through the week! It’s always exciting to wake up on a Friday and go to work, the day always seems brighter, knowing it is the last of the working week. But this week, getting through was a particular feat, as there has been more downs than ups.
Mr. Michie is one of the chaperones at the prom tonight. I can’t wait to hear his stories when he gets home. It is being held in an old barn, which will just be beautiful. My high school always had our prom in the cafeteria. I never went to prom. My girlfriends and I would always have a big night out instead. I don’t regret not going. I’ve always marched to my own little beat anyway.
I don’t often have an evening to myself, so I plan on watching a movie with a bowl of popcorn and stretching out on the couch.
Hopefully the weekend brings a bit of much needed quiet and rest with it. Here’s to the weekend, long may it last!
It’s crisp today with a silvery grey sky. I don’t mind, I’m staying cozy inside. My candles are lit, I’m listening to music and working on a weekend menu. Tonight we’re having a big Greek salad and home made tiropitas. One of my favourites! My mom has always made them and I learned how to do it through her. They remind me of Spring and being little. The taste of warm salty feta oozing into your mouth as you bite through the buttery crisp pastry, makes my mouth water.
I’m taking a break from decluttering and downsizing and working on a personal project. We now have two more large bags of items to donate to the charity store and I know that there will be more to come, once I tackle the bedroom closets. It is a refreshing change to be able to easily walk into the pantry and grab a cookbook or mixing bowl without having to complete a yoga balancing move to get what you are after. I have yet to miss anything that we have donated or recycled.
I have secretly worried that I was one step away from being on the TV show Hoarders, but considering that I am an excellent de-clutterer, organiser and cleaner and can make these decisions myself without someone putting all of my possessions in my front yard to go through, I think I’m doing alright.
We’re each planning for a quiet weekend, doing things around the house, completing a few work tasks, eating good food, going for walks, listening to music and just being. Here’s to the weekend, long may it last.

San Gabriel Elementary School. “She took to them the first time I put them on her and now she barks and cries when I try to take her out without them,” Miss Butcher says. But shopping’s a problem. Wherever she goes, Demi-Tasse, is naturally the center of attraction.
Woo-Hoo! It’s Friday. We have a semi-quiet weekend planned. First up, Mr. Michie is taking me to the movies tonight for a date. We have a very cool retro movie house near us and we love going there. They have big plush couches and a place to put your feet up, so I’m happy! They also have a cool 1970s curved leather couch in their lounge area that I would like to take home, it looks like something off of a great movie set.
Here’s to the weekend long may it last!
P.S. I had to include the caption with this picture, it was just too good!
OH! Sweet glorious Friday! You finally came! This has been a busy week and one that has seen us at times, crawling toward the finish line today.
Yesterday, I did a few of those “unseen” jobs around the house. I scrubbed down the inside and outside of all the cupboard doors in the kitchen. They are now sparkling. I think I’ve been bitten by a spring cleaning bug. My next project involves scrubbing down the refrigerator, but I’m saving that one for next week along with re-organizing the pantry. Slowly and methodically, I’m moving through the house. I’m on a de-cluttering mission. We just want everything more simplified.
This weekend we’re out to dinner two nights in a row. A friend’s flat on the river tonight and a neighbour’s house on Saturday. Tomorrow, I’m in charge of bringing dessert and as there are food allergy issues to be concerned about, I’ve had to go back to the drawing board about a million times. But I like a challenge. Let’s just hope it tastes good!
