I’ve been grooving to this song a lot lately around the house, in between all of my podcast listening. After the events of the past few days and living within a world that feels like it’s going mad, I say we catch our breaths this weekend and dance. Dance, because we are alive and we will continue to move forward no matter what obstacles present themselves.
Yeeeeee Haw!! We made it to the weekend! I’m so very ready for this weekend to begin. This has been a loop-de-do crazy week. It’s been raining off and on most of this week, but it looks like the rain might hold off long enough tomorrow for us to do our morning run and not get soaked.
Fingers crossed it keeps holding, so we are able to complete a couple of errands and not have to worry about everything getting wet as we walk along. Mr. Michie is trying his best to fight off one heck of a cold, so I think some bundled-up-under-blankets-on-the-couch movie time is definitely in order. Here’s to the weekend, long may it last!
I’m elated that it’s Friday and I have a whole weekend with Mr. Michie all to myself! The temperatures are supposed to stay cool this weekend and the rain is gonna keep on coming. Which means that after our morning run, we’re going to head back indoors and stay cozy.
A big batch of spaghetti and meatballs is on the weekend menu. We’re planning on pulling out some classic Eighties movies from our collection and hunkering down on the couch under a mountain of blankets. I foresee lots of popcorn being involved in our movie watching endeavours. Candles will be lit and we will just try to drift through this weekend as slowly as possible, because Mondays come around all too quickly again.
Just like magic we’ve made it through the week! I’m so very ready for this weekend. It brings with it a chance to breathe, coffee, going on our run together (which schedule wise we only normally ever get to do at the weekend), a Mexican feast and all kinds of other good stuff in between.
We’re Graham Norton fans in this house and although this is from an episode that aired in December, we started talking about it again the other night. This was incredible!
So here’s a little magic to start your weekend off!
I love this little cartoon. It just makes me smile. I can’t believe this weekend signals the last weekend in January. How can this be? How can January have gone by in a puff of smoke, like a magician’s trick?
This weekend brings with it a chance to hopefully catch our breaths from a hectic week and get a few things done around the house. Mainly taking down our Christmas decorations. Shhh! Don’t tell anyone that they’re still up. I just love seeing those twinkling lights, bathing the room in a cozy glow when it’s cold outside and still gets dark early. But, it’s time. We’re ready for everything to look refreshed.
And last, but not least, this weekend also brings with it the Chinese New Year celebrations and I’m very excited! So homemade pork dumplings and Chinese one-pot steamed chicken, vegetables and jasmine rice are on the menu.
I’m late out for my walk this morning. I normally go when it’s still dark, but I got caught up in doing things around the house. I’ve mopped the bathroom and kitchen floors and replied to a few e-mails and chit-chatted with my postmen after he knocked on our door with a bundle of parcels in his hands for us. It is one of those days where I can’t seem to get ahead. I’m doing things, but that creates another pile of items to be sorted. I’ll get there in the end.
It’s damp outside and raining, it feels like a Friday. The air has that feeling. I’ve been singing along to Christmas tunes while I clean. It makes my heart happy. The weekend is up for grabs. We have a few errands to run on Saturday and I’m working on a grocery list for the week ahead. I have a new recipe that I want to try from a cookbook that Mr. Michie surprised me with.
Mr. Michie had a late school night last night and so when he got home, we ate breakfast for dinner. I made brown sugar and maple syrup roasted apples and sausages with clementine zest, cheese grits and a pan of buttermilk biscuits. He was very happy. After dinner we cozied up on the couch and watched Love Actually. That movie always puts me in a good mood.
I can’t seem to get warm today, no matter what I do. If I drink any more tea, I think I might just float away. We had a lovely Thanksgiving. It is the first time, in I can’t remember how long, that we actually celebrated Thanksgiving on the day and not the weekend.
There is a fresh loaf of bread cooling on my counter for sandwiches tonight. Our fridge is filled to the brim with leftovers and it makes me giddy. I’m not always a leftovers girl, but Thanksgiving leftovers, I’ll never say “NO” too!
This weekend, I need to get stamps for our Christmas cards and Mr. Michie is going to help me carry a stack of parcels to be posted out. If the weather forecast stays at it is, we are supposed to be chilly and foggy tomorrow, so I think it might be the perfect day to head to the movies and eat tons of popcorn! But, we’ll just see how the weekend presents itself.
Well, my candles are lit, A Christmas Romance is playing on TV, so naturally I’m watching it. Nothing like a little Olivia Newton-John and Gregory Harrison to get your morning going. I have a steaming cup of tea in front of me and brownies are baking in the oven.
I’m slowly defrosting from my walk this morning. It was so cold! But, my heart was warm from all the furry kisses I received. I saw a lot of my four legged friends as I made my way along this morning. I also had a nice chat with a robin, who I see from time to time. I whistle and he sings back. After a nice little chit-chat he usually follows me for a while down my path.
I still need to do a bit of prep work for dinner tonight and a bit of tidying up so we are set for the weekend. I’m going to work on wrapping up some packages this afternoon, with Christmas music blasting of course!
This weekend brings with it a chance for us to catch our breath and get a few things done around the house, while also finalising our Thanksgiving menu. I can’t wait for pumpkin pie! Really pumpkin pie and my leftover turkey sandwich is the highlight of my Thanksgiving.
I hope you have a wonderful and peaceful weekend, wherever you may be. xx
I’m getting ready for the weekend. It should be busy, there are lots of errands to run, a menu to plan and a trip to the grocery store. I have a few new recipes that I want to test out as well. Mr. Michie treated me to Ina Garten’s new cookbook, Cooking for Jeffrey, which should arrive today and I’m very excited. I don’t know if I have shared this here before, but I have a bit of a cookbook fetish. I don’t cook from all of them, some I use for inspiration alone. But I just love cookbooks. Especially vintage ones! I scored two great Christmas ones last year that are just the sweetest things ever.
I hope you have a wonderful weekend, wherever you may be! Here’s to the weekend, long may it last!
We made it through the week! It’s always exciting to wake up on a Friday and go to work, the day always seems brighter, knowing it is the last of the working week. But this week, getting through was a particular feat, as there has been more downs than ups.
Mr. Michie is one of the chaperones at the prom tonight. I can’t wait to hear his stories when he gets home. It is being held in an old barn, which will just be beautiful. My high school always had our prom in the cafeteria. I never went to prom. My girlfriends and I would always have a big night out instead. I don’t regret not going. I’ve always marched to my own little beat anyway.
I don’t often have an evening to myself, so I plan on watching a movie with a bowl of popcorn and stretching out on the couch.
Hopefully the weekend brings a bit of much needed quiet and rest with it. Here’s to the weekend, long may it last!
