We’ve had lots of date nights, I’ve just been having too much fun on them to record anything. But last night, I pulled out our vintage projection screen, Mr. Michie set up the projector and we watched Moonrise Kingdom. I don’t think you can go wrong with a Wes Anderson film!
We made camp fire grilled flatbread pizzas, drank wine, and in homage to the French music, we had French vanilla bean custard with a raspberry puree for dessert. All the fairy lights were lit and we stayed cozy under blankets and just lounged around. Happiness is…
It’s been a little while since our last “M&M” date night. But last night we snuggled in to watch: We Bought A Zoo. This is an adorable movie! A great cast, a great soundtrack and animals! Happiness all around. The little girl who plays Rosie Mee (Maggie Elizabeth Jones) is so adorable!
We ate popcorn and made vegetarian calzones, filled with provolone, mozzarella, spinach sautéed in garlic oil and marinated artichokes. It was delicioso!
**No animals were harmed in the making of our date night dinner.
Last night we had an impromptu date night and watched Murphy’s Romance. One of my favorites! James Garner, Sally Field, Carole King doing the theme song! If all of this isn’t a winning combination, I don’t know what is?
It was a naughty food “M&M” night. We had “Murphy’s” Chili over fries and chocolate – all chocolate coke floats!
It was a nice way to finish off the weekend.
I know I’ve posted this clip before, but I just love it:
As I mentioned in my previous post, this weekend, we decided to try a new Date Night plan of action: “M&M Date Night”. The M&M equals “Movie and Menu”. We want to try and do this at least twice a month and simply put, we plan to create a menu around a movie.
We started off the first of many “M&M” date nights with a childhood favourite, a classic really: The Goonies. We decided to go with homemade pizza and ice cream since that is one of Chunk’s favourite things to eat! The party lights were on and candles were lit.
While I was busy making pizza dough (I used my go-to recipe from Annie’s Eats, although I have made a few tweaks of my own to it), Mr. Michie found a “Which Goonies Character Are You?” quiz and we took that. I got Mikey:
He got Sloth:
I’m not sure what that says about us? We went with Italian sausage, mushroom and feta as our pizza toppings. Although Mr. Michie was sans mushrooms and just ate a manly carnivore pizza. It totally hit the spot and for dessert, we made ice cream sundaes with caramel sauce, chopped pecans, marshmallow fluff, whipped cream and cherries all piled high. It was a really fun way to spend a date night and we plan to do many many more!
So, here’s to date night, long may it last! GOONIES, NEVER SAY DIE!!!!!
