Not a creature was stirring. Not even a mouse…
It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas! Here is just a little taste of some of my favourite London decorations. As always, Lina’s my favourite Italian deli has the most adorable window. And the nutcrackers at Liberty’s this year are gorgeous! I want him to come and live outside my door.
As I sat down at the kitchen table today to work on writing out our Christmas cards, I noticed sugar cookie crumbs everywhere. I couldn’t figure out where they had come from. I brushed them off and carried on going through my card list.
But my mind kept turning over and over where those golden little crumbs had come from. Maybe Mr. Michie munched on a few cookies last night while working and I didn’t see him? Maybe some crumbs whisked off my dessert plate as I took it back into the kitchen to tidy up?
I got my answer this afternoon. While making a cup of tea, I heard a tiny giggle and the rustling of branches. I got out of the kitchen door just in time, to see my pixie girl nestling down in her little spot with a star shaped sugar cookie tucked into the folds of her skirt.
Now, I know where those crumbs came from! I don’t mind. You have to look after your house pixies, especially this time of year as they are reporting back to Santa, himself! And, I for one, would like a good report!
Well, the turkey has been bought. The stuffing is made and ready to be cooked tomorrow. There are cinnamon-brown sugar-clementine marinated carrots prepped and ready to be roasted and a pumpkin pie is cooling on my kitchen table. Lots of my other prep work has been completed, so that should make tomorrow pretty straight forward, fingers crossed.
I’m on Thanksgiving countdown and I can’t wait! What I’m most excited about is my leftover turkey sandwich and a slice of pumpkin pie.
Well, I’m not embarrassed to admit this, I don’t stop listening to Christmas music just because December is over. I actually listen to it all year long, just here and there. It has definitely been the theme tune to our lives at the moment. There is a lot of George Winston and James Galway being played around the house.
The season of Christmas adverts is upon us and they are truly putting me in a very festive mood.
Some are funny, some made me cry and I want the Burberry ad turned into a full length movie! I love that cape! What is it about a cape? I have long been enamoured with them.
This is just a little sprinkling of “holly jolly” so far. I hope you’re having a lovely weekend, wherever you are!
