Yellow Dog

Just putting the finishing touches on three sewing projects I’ve been working on this week. They are all getting packed up and sent to 2 very special little people!

Off the Grid

This is Colossal Off the Grid

I’ve been catching up on a few things since our return from Denmark (photos coming soon, I promise!). One thing on my “To-Do” list was to go through the things I saved in my Instapaper account. As I slowly started combing through the articles I had put in there for rainy day reading, I re-discovered this one on Colossal.

A Canadian couple have spent the past 24 years building their own floating island. Today they are currently moored off the coast of Vancouver. I was completely fascinated by this idea. I would love to follow them through the seasons and see how their life changes when the snow begins to fall.

The Beginning

Jennifer Michie Sewing

I love starting on a new project. That is what I began this morning. I sketched out my pattern yesterday and inked it on to my cloth. This morning, over a cup of tea, I began to put my first stitches in. This will be the first of some special things that I’m making for a new little person that will soon be welcomed into our big family.

P.S. I know it’s been quiet around here as of late, but I’ve been very busy enjoying our beloved Denmark and drinking lots of hot chocolate for breakfast. I will have lots to share soon! xx

Countryside Stroll

We took a long walk through the countryside yesterday. Rambling along the paths. We strolled by a stream, through the church yard where an 800 year old church still stands (with medieval paintings still on the walls) and headed to the deli for lunch.

We sat by the duck pond for a bit after lunch and then decided to continue down the lanes, where we saw fields of grazing sheep and cattle. After following the trail through one particular paddock, we were greeted by four gorgeous horses who all came to say hello. There was lots of petting by us and nuzzling by the horses.

The day was perfect, the sun was out, but there was a delicious breeze going. We ended up doing about a 10 mile stretch. It was bliss.

Just Being

Jennifer Michie Chicken Ramen

We went for a long walk today, cleaned the house, did laundry and ran errands. As a treat we decided to have dinner out. The evening was cool and a steaming bowl of chicken ramen soup seemed like a perfect idea.

I love the pace of summer. The chance to truly march to your own drum and do things on the fly. We’ve stayed up late the past few nights watching Stranger Things. I’m totally hooked! It makes me nostalgic for the 80s.

We love the main theme, there is a slight Tangerine Dream vibe going on there.

Hello August!

Seashells

Well August has arrived. This morning was cool and cloudy, but the sun is working hard on trying to peak out. We’re in the process of making a “Summer Bucket List”, I’m hoping to dip my toes in the ocean at least once. Here’s to Summer, long may it last!
