The Space In-Between

Jennifer Michie Window Pane

I awoke this morning in that small crack in the wall, the space in-between; where you are not quite awake, but not really sleeping. It was in this in-between dream space that my mind played a nasty trick on me and it wasn’t till after I was out of the shower that I realized, it wasn’t Friday after all. There is still one more day to go.

I am ready for the weekend. I am done with this week and all of its annoyances. I find it exceedingly frustrating when you strive to start each day with a clean slate and someone always seems to be waiting to pounce, to throw something else at you. I know that that is simply life, but there are some things that don’t need added stress, they already come part in parcel with their own.

It is in these moments, that I simply take a deep breath, smile and move forward. For at the end of the day, these things don’t really matter, I have more important things to focus on, to be grateful for and to plan for. There is always a bright side, sometimes you may have to look hard for it, but it is there.

Tomorrow is Friday and it brings with it the promise of two whole days to belong just to each other.

Feels Like Fall

Jennifer Michie Dawn

It felt Fall-ish this weekend. It was cool and rainy on Saturday, sunny and chilly yesterday. Today I left the house to a dark and windy morning, which slowly budded into the most gorgeous sunrise, the sky was filled with pink and gold and a deep purple, the trees and houses I passed, black silhouettes against the rising dawn. All this beauty had vanished behind clouds and a rain filled sky by the time I got off the tube.

It feels like Fall has arrived to England. Blustery, rainy weather and the crunch of leaves underfoot. I just wanted to curl up with a good book and a cup of tea this afternoon. It feels like sweater weather!

Below is a small Autumn Playlist that I made, these songs make me think of hot apple cider, pumpkins, sweaters, the leaves changing, the evenings closing in sooner, the train racing past fields filled with birds following the Harvester, rainy afternoons and crispy mornings, to name but a few things.

Playing House

Playing House

I think we have another Bunheads situation on our hands here folks. Over the summer we watched Playing House and we tumbled down the rabbit hole and fell in love. Then we proceeded to tie our family down to chairs and made them watch it as well. They loved it too! We are still throwing lines out to each other. It is funny, charming, relatable, intelligent and it has heart. These women could be your friends. I want to go to lunch with them at Rosie’s and drive down main street singing to Kenny Loggins.

So why is it taking USA Network so long to make a decision to renew it or not?  The people are a collective chorus screaming out for more. With a host of new shows starting this season, this is a show that is worth keeping. It has a good foundation and space to grow. Just like Bunheads, a show where the critics, for once, were begging for its renewal, it looks like Playing House could also fall into the wasteland of TV shows that didn’t make it. I’ve read article after article with critics crying out for it’s return. Please renew this show, USA, I beg you on bended knee; I’ve not yet had my fill of spaghets!

The First of the Month

Sweet Apple Cider Barn

We welcome in October today and I have to admit, I am more than ready for the weather to turn. It has been teasing us the past week or so, but I’m ready for apple cider nights, crunchy leaves underfoot, crispy air filling my lungs and fat orange pumpkins in all shapes and sizes.
